First of All
Checking Neck Relief

You can use long ruler with a straightedge placed between
If that ruler far out of the center of the neck.

It will be alright if it far a little bit

Your guitar can play easier but maybe it make your guitar
Measure the gap between the string and top of 7th fret

You have 2 ways to check your guitar neck.

1 ) Checking Relief With a Straightedge
the D and G strings, so you can see that.
The largest or Smallest gap is usually towards the
center of the neck.

It will make you to hold fret with more strength and
It make you fell pain when you play it too long.

have some buzz sound
(Ugly sound by string swang strike your guitar neck)

2 ) Checking Relief Using The Strings

Fret the string on 1st and last fret of the neck

It up to you... Up to your style to play guitar.
But if you like to strumming you must make neck relief
much more 0.2 mm at 7th fret to protect buzz sound
when you are strumming to heavy
For Fingerstyle you will make your guitar neck gap smaller
to play it easier so you must use larger string gauge too.

So.. How to adjust the Truss rod
Locating The Adjustment Nut

Some guitars it will be at peghead.
Some guitars it will be at the heel.

We use wrench to turn the truss rod.
Basically, when you buy a guitar.
Be supplied, but if not, you may have to go to the hardware store to buy the building.
Or in-store sales of construction equipment / tools,
The think to be careful
rotation for Truss rod adjusted to gently twist the neck is
1/4, bit by bit, if you're too impatient to  rotate ,
you are try to kill Truss rod.

                Truss rod rotation and results.
If Truss rod is straight your guitar neck will straight too .
This is features of Truss rod with curved or bent up.
If the Truss rod is rotated from left to right.(Clockwise move).
Guitar neck, it will freeze up, the result is the " bent up "
or "curve" up.
The results of Truss rod adjusted in this manner will
make your guitar easier to play the left hand.
Because the neck bent up with the strings.
Especially during the action of the neck at central
so it make your strings height = Low

This is features of Truss rod with bent down.
If Truss rod is rotated from right to left.

(As opposed to clockwise).
Guitar neck is lowered, we may call this condition as

"the guitar neck  bent down".
The results of Truss rod adjustment in this way will

make it more difficult to play left hand.
Especially since the mid-neck, neck bowed out of

the guitar string.
so it make your strings height = high

* If truss Rod Position is peghead
  you must turn it opposite.

The Best Action is

Action to make your play more flexible easy to move your fingers.
Action that does not make you feel my fingers or wrist pain.

This is only way to adjust your guitar neck
